Tip #1 Take a seat, unwind and have a drink

Tip #2 Whenever anyone asks to take your pic, slowly stretch your muscles, arch your back and flash a "come hither" look

Simple, right?

I, however, would not want to be anywhere near Miss Gillan when she wakes the next day after chasing that liquor with a big fat glass of red wine.

I wonder if Doctor Who can fix a migraine?

(Thanks to Jose Melendez at the CCW*TV Blog for the pics!)

Sorry, no word if the delicious Amy Pond will be attending.

(She’s probably too busy playing with her new Wii Sonic Screwdriver!)

Yeah, I’d go. Regardless.

After watching this vid, my estimation of Matt Smith the actor and Matt Smith the cool guy increased 1,000-fold.

From Wikipedia:

The Doctor Who Prom 2010 was a concert showcasing incidental music from the British science fiction television series Doctor Who, along with classical music, performed as part of the BBC’s Proms series of concerts. The concert was performed on 24 and 25 July 2010 and was hosted by actors Matt Smith, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill, who portray the Doctor and his companions.

Following up on the first Doctor Who Prom in 2008, the concert featured music from the series, this time alongside pieces by John Adams, Gustav Holst, Carl Orff and Richard Wagner.

An edited version of concert, containing only the Murray Gold compositions and none of the classical pieces, was televised on BBC Three on 6 September at 8:30pm and was repeated on 7 September at 2:45am. An extended version containing all the music from the 2010 Doctor Who Prom will be broadcast on BBC Three on 10 September at 7pm.

Could you imagine any American TV Stars doing this? With this much wit and charm?

(Many thanks to CCW*TV’s Jose Melendez for catching this one!)

Okay, so last week I downloaded the Mafia II demo from Xbox Live and I beat it in about a half-hour. I died a bunch of times but I had fun. It definitely felt like a more linear version of Grand Theft Auto a complaint also leveled at the original Mafia game.

I thought the gameplay was mediocre and the cover/fire mechanics were better in last generation games. Killswitch comes to mind. I do like how the graphics, sound and overall cinematic treatment make it feel like I’m playing a prequel to The Godfather movies. It feels very realistic to walk around town. Unlike GTA– people actually jump out of your way during driving scenes. Download the preview on PSN or Xbox Live. I’m sure you’ll find something you’ll like– as the developers seem to have put a lot of effort into this game despite some of the shortcomings.

I’ve given my impressions of this much-anticipated game. Now it’s time for GameTrailers to do the job of presenting us with another excellent video review so we don’t have to read. Enjoy!

Licensed to Kill and Kill and Kill and... (via joystiq, com)

Holy tender ass cheeks, Batman! This new re-imagining of the N64 Goldeneye looks better with each new morsel of information released! Check out this preview. After watching– don’t forget to read some hilarious comments about the game, the N64 and an incident in which 007 James Bond allegedly molested one of the posters! Ha! Ha! has some of the funniest forum members!

… And I’m pressing charges! This shit is way too hyperkinetic for me to take in all at once. But I think it’s worth checking out— if anything, just so you’re not too surprised when it does finally come out. Ten years for a sequel to Marvel vs. Capcom? Way to leave us hanging and skip a generation! Sheesh!

Nintendo announces NEW Doctor Who games for the Wii and DS. ‘Nuff Said.

(Dedicated to Insideman because he introduced me to the sexy Miss Amy Pond in this picture.)

Anybody feel a Brees in here?

GameTrailers says it’s much improved but I’m still not satisfied with how they have completely destroyed the franchise mode. Seriously, I used to retain some of my best players for virtually pennies on the dime because I low-balled their agents aggressively. Now they’ve made it way too time-consuming to do so. Kiss my ass, EA. I’m done with Madden as of last year’s edition. Watch the review here.

Blood, Boobs & Berettas

$15 out of your wallet for a hyper cartoon called Shank doesn’t seem like it’s worth it– but if you’ve got the extra cash lying around for it and you’re hungry for animated action then it might be worth checking out this review at least.

Metroid Other M

I’ve had high hopes for Metroid: Other M since I saw it previewed last Fall. It’s from the more than capable developers of Ninja Gaiden— so it sounds like it’s in good hands. Check it out the GameTrailers review right here!

Seize it while you got it!

A shorter break between Who appearances. That's a good thing!

Beginning in 2011, Steven Moffat has decided to SPLIT Doctor Who into 2 separate series. One 7 episode series starting around Easter. Then a Summer break. Then a 2nd 6 episode series starting in the Fall.

The Christmas Special stays in place.

Moffat thinks it is the ideal schedule for 2 reasons:

1) He can now have a HUGE cliff-hanger to end the first 7 episode arc… Something Doctor Who showrunners could never do before due to the long wait in between 13 episode seasons.

2) Fans will now never have to go too long to wait for another Doctor Who “fix”. Instead of 13 episodes appearing one after the other, all at once starting at Easter every year… Fans get 7 eps at Easter, 6 eps in the Fall and then a Christmas special on 12/25— followed by another round 7 eps the following Easter, etc., etc., etc.

Seeing more of Karen Gillan? Oh, HELL YES!

This, of course, will also allow for 2 First Nights & 2 Finale Episodes. In short, twice as many EVENT episodes.

And even though they will not be shooting more material than normal for a year (13 regular eps, 1 Christmas Special)– I bet it will feel like more material since there will now only be short breaks in-between Who appearances.

The BBC can now promote the hell out of the show almost all year long– as opposed to just every Christmas and Easter. This extra promotion can only lead to more Doctor Who viewership.

So it’s a win-win. A little frustration for those (like me) who want everything RIGHT NOW… But Hey, if I can get over it this quickly– so can you.

When I see this woman walk onscreen it's basically, "Who cares about the Doctor?"

And for those thinking why don’t they just film more episodes like American TV… Doctor Who— at 13 eps a season– already films TWICE AS MANY episodes as the average British TV series does every year. So I doubt you’re ever going to see that change at all.

In fact, with these shorter seasons also being the modus operandi for most American Cable shows– I wouldn’t be surprised to see the already ridiculously short American Network TV seasons cropped even further. The Networks don’t seem to act like they know this yet– but they are slowly but surely turning themselves into “basic cable” channels right now.

Indie rock now has Time Lord Rock — or TROCK— the features music about Doctor Who.

Here are 2 GREAT SONGS from Chameleon Circuit— the premiere Trock Band. Videos are user made.
